The Oyo State House of Assembly has refuted allegations that it intimidated Hon. Ibrahim Shittu, representing Saki West State Constituency, after the recent approval of a ₦300 billion loan facility.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) had claimed that Governor Seyi Makinde’s supporters were plotting to pressure the lawmaker.
Reacting to the allegation, Waheed Akintayo, Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs, and ICT, described it as “false, mischievous, and ill-conceived.”
He accused the APC of attempting to politicize legislative affairs through what he termed “defective preemptive tactics.”
Akintayo noted that the Assembly has maintained peace since 2019, operating on the principles of democracy, fairness, and due process.
He explained that the ₦300 billion loan facility was approved transparently, with the aim of funding critical infrastructure and driving socio-economic development.
The committee chairman urged the APC to refrain from fear-mongering, embrace constructive opposition, and focus on the progress of Oyo State, stressing that all lawmakers are treated equally regardless of party affiliation.
