Oyo extends curfew in 10 LGAs by 24 hours

The Oyo State Government has extended the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park by an additional 24 hours.

The extension was approved by Governor Seyi Makinde, as stated in a memo released on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.

It should be recalled that the state government imposed a curfew from “4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.” in the affected local government areas on June 23, 2026.

Following the latest development, the curfew, which was originally set to last for 48 hours, will now remain in effect until Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The affected local government areas include Oriire Local Government Area, headquartered in Ikoyi-Ile; Orelope Local Government Area, with its headquarters in Igboho; Irepo Local Government Area, headquartered in Kisi; Saki West Local Government Area, with Saki as its headquarters; Saki East Local Government Area, headquartered in Ago-Amodu; Atisbo Local Government Area, with headquarters in Tede/Ago-Are; Itesiwaju Local Government Area, headquartered in Otu; Iseyin Local Government Area, with Iseyin as its headquarters; Olorunsogo Local Government Area, headquartered in Igbeti; and Atiba Local Government Area, with its headquarters in Offa-Meta, Oyo.
