Oyo govt promotes 1,535 LG workers

The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission has distributed 1,535 promotion letters to personnel across the state’s 33 local government areas under the 2025 promotion exercise.

The promotions, which span Grade Levels 06 to 17, cover employees of the commission as well as workers in seven departments across the local government system.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Education and Social Services, Lala Foluso, the beneficiaries comprise 288 staff from Administration and General Services, 57 from Agriculture and Natural Resources, 40 from Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, 431 from Education and Social Services, 44 from Environmental Health Services, 315 from Finance and Supplies, and 360 from Works, Housing, Lands and Survey.

Presenting the promotion letters on behalf of the commission, Chairman Bashorun Akinwole said the exercise reflects Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, boosting morale and supporting career advancement.

“The promotion is a clear demonstration of the present administration’s commitment to building a professional, efficient and well-motivated local government workforce capable of delivering quality service to the people at the grassroots,” Akinwole said.

“This administration under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde understands that a motivated workforce is the engine room of good governance.

“The prompt release of these promotion letters is in line with its resolve to ensure that no civil servant stagnates and that hard work is duly recognised and rewarded,” he added.

The chairman congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to regard the promotion as both a reward for past diligence and a call to greater responsibility.

“See the promotion as both a reward for past diligence and a call to greater responsibility in service delivery across all the local governments and the commission,” he charged.

Akinwole also reiterated the commission’s commitment to regular and timely promotion exercises, capacity building and improved welfare packages for staff in line with the Omituntun 2.0 agenda of the Makinde administration.
