Motorists heading towards the concert venue in Ibadan have been advised to plan their journeys differently on Monday as the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority announced restrictions on some roads.
The agency said the temporary measures were part of arrangements for the BOYE NATION/JAF Movement Concert, which is expected to draw a large crowd.
The OYRTMA Chairman, Major Adekoya Adesagba (retd.), disclosed the traffic arrangements on Saturday during a briefing at the authority’s headquarters in Ibadan.
Under the arrangement, VIP guests with valid stickers or entry passes will park at Gate 2, while other attendees are expected to leave their vehicles at the Recreation Field opposite Gate 3 in Sabo.
PTS buses will be available at the recreation field to transport concertgoers to the venue.
Adesagba said, “VIPs with valid event stickers or entry passes would park at Gate 2, while other guests and attendees would use the Recreation Field opposite Gate 3, Sabo, as the designated parking area. He added that PTS buses would be stationed at the recreation field to convey attendees to the concert venue.
“Gates 1 and 3 would be opened strictly to pedestrians, as vehicles would not be permitted to pass through the two gates.”
He said access to roads around the stadium would also be restricted for motorists and members of the public who were not attending to matters at the venue.
The authority specifically identified the Danax route towards Sabo Recreation Junction and the Queen Cinema route towards Eko Tedo as areas where motorists would face restrictions.
Adesagba further said, “The Danax en route Sabo Recreation Junction and Queen Cinema en route Eko Tedo would be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. tomorrow, Monday.”
Residents, commercial drivers and other motorists using the affected routes were advised to make alternative arrangements and follow instructions from traffic officials.
The OYRTMA chairman said personnel would be positioned at strategic points to control movement and respond to traffic-related issues throughout the event.
“The temporary traffic restrictions are necessary due to the expected influx of people to the concert. The measures are intended to minimise congestion and ensure the safety of all road users.”
He also appealed for cooperation from residents and other road users during the temporary restrictions.
“Let me also use this period to appeal to members of the public to cooperate with OYRTMA and other security agencies. This compliance with the traffic arrangements would contribute to the safe and orderly movement of people and vehicles throughout the event,” the chairman assured.
The concert is designed to bring Oyo youths together through entertainment and will also be used for Boye Nation’s political declaration under the Allied Peoples Movement.
