A pastor of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre has reportedly lost his life after encountering bandits while returning from Makurdi.
The cleric, identified as Abraham Francis Aduh Ojo, was said to be heading home after attending a church programme when the tragic incident occurred.
Incident Occurred After Church Programme
According to details shared by a family member, the pastor had travelled to Makurdi for a crusade before embarking on his return journey.
The incident was said to have happened on Thursday, February 12, when he ran into suspected bandits operating along the road.
Escape Attempt Turns Fatal
In a Facebook post announcing the development, the pastor’s nephew, Abuh Richard Enemona, disclosed that his uncle attempted to flee after encountering the armed men.
He stated that in the process of escaping, the pastor was involved in a road accident and died instantly.
“My Uncle was coming from Makurdi yesterday after a crusade and he ran into bandits operations and was trying to escape but had an accident and died immediately.
“Until his dead, he’s a pastor serving in Dunamis church, since morning my family and entire community was throw into a heavy tears here.
“Rest well uncle Pastor Abraham Francis Aduh Ojo.”
Family and Church Members Mourn
The sudden loss has plunged the pastor’s family and members of his church into deep mourning.
His nephew noted that the tragedy has left the entire household and community in sorrow. Church members and sympathisers have since taken to social media to express their condolences and prayers.
