A leading Nigerian payment startup,Paystack, has placed Ezra Olubi, its co-founder and chief technology officer, on suspension following allegations of workplace-related sexual misconduct.
According to a report by TechCabal, the company initiated a formal probe after the claims went viral on social media on November 12.
Although Olubi’s X account has since been taken down, online discussions showed that the controversial posts were made before he co-founded Paystack.
The resurfaced tweets, dated between 2009 and 2013, featured sexually explicit jokes about colleagues, references to experiencing erections in meetings, and remarks touching on minors, bestiality, and sexualised anime characters. They also included comments about wanting to take pictures of a coworker’s thighs.
“Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our Co-founder, Ezra Olubi,” the company told TechCabal.
“We take matters of this nature extremely seriously. Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation.
“Out of respect for the individuals involved and to protect the integrity of the process, we will not be commenting further until the investigation is complete.”
The company added that it has set up a “fair, transparent, and structured” mechanism to carry out the investigation in line with its policies.
“This process is guided by our policies, our values, and our commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all employees,” Paystack said.
As of the time of this report, Olubi has not publicly addressed the resurfaced tweets or the misconduct allegations. His official X account has remained deactivated since November 13, 2025.
