PDP BoT, Zoning Panel meet before NEC

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) and the party’s Convention Zoning Committee held separate meetings in Abuja on Monday afternoon ahead of the National Executive Committee (NEC) session scheduled for later in the day.

The zoning committee, chaired by Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, met at the Legacy House, while BoT members gathered at Wadata Plaza. Both bodies will present their resolutions to the NEC for consideration.

Governor Diri confirmed that the zoning committee had finalised its decisions on the allocation of key party offices, including the presidential ticket, and would submit them to the NEC for ratification.

Meanwhile, the BoT urged unity among members to ensure that the planned national convention holds in November as scheduled.

On Saturday, PDP governors cautioned Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and others against moves to derail the convention, set for 15 November in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a communiqué issued at the end of their seventh meeting in Gusau, Zamfara State, on 23 August, the governors reaffirmed support for the NEC’s July resolutions endorsing the November convention. They described the PDP as Nigeria’s strongest democratic institution and the only credible alternative to restore good governance and development.
