Wabara-Led PDP BoT names interim NWC amid deepening crisis

The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, led by Adolphus Wabara, has constituted a 13-member interim National Working Committee following the leadership vacuum created by a recent Supreme Court ruling.

According to Wabara, the decision aligns with the party’s constitution, which mandates the establishment of a caretaker structure in the absence of a recognised leadership.

The interim committee is headed by former National Chairman Tanimu Turaki, and the resolution was reached during a National Executive Committee meeting convened by his faction at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

Key stakeholders present at the meeting included Seyi Makinde, Babangida Muazu, Jerry Gana, and Zainab Maina, among others.

The group also rejected the Abuja convention that produced the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Working Committee, declaring it null and void.

The development follows the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the appeal filed by the Turaki-led leadership, with the court ruling that the Ibadan convention held in November 2025 violated an existing Federal High Court order.

Meanwhile, the rival camp led by Nyesom Wike has insisted that factionalism within the party has ended, maintaining that the Abdulrahman-led leadership remains the legitimate authority.

The latest move highlights the deepening internal crisis within the PDP, as competing factions continue to assert control despite judicial intervention.
