The charismatic cancer survivor who stole the spotlight at the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival, Farooq Oreagba, has done it again. This year, he returned with his signature effortless charm and magnetic presence, reaffirming his status as the festival’s reigning style icon.
Last year, Oreagba captured global attention, arriving on a decorated horse in a bold green and lemon agbada, accessorized with coral beads, a gold crossbody chain, designer shades, an Apple watch, and a cigar. His tattoos peeking from his sleeves added an edgy flair, making a powerful statement. That moment earned him the title of “The Man of the Day” and cemented his place as the face of Ojude Oba 2024.
This year, Oreagba didn’t just attend—he made an entrance. Mounted on horseback once again, he showcased an impeccable fusion of elegance and edge, demonstrating confidence, cultural pride, and an undeniable sense of identity. Social media erupted with admiration, dubbing him the “King of Steeze.”
Born in July 1966 in Ijebu-Ode, Oreagba is more than a style icon; he embodies resilience and grace. After being diagnosed with osteosarcoma and carcinoma in 2014, he fought bravely, achieving remission by 2015 and being declared cancer-free in 2017.
A graduate of Coventry University and Edward Greenes College, Oxford, with a BTec Diploma in Business & Finance from the University of East London, Oreagba has a remarkable career spanning decades in the financial sector, both in Nigeria and abroad. He previously served on the Derivatives Product Advisory Committee of the Nigerian Stock Exchange and is currently the Managing Director of NG Clearing Limited.
Recognizing his cultural influence, the National Council for Arts and Culture named him an Honorary Cultural Ambassador. NCAC Director-General Obi Asika praised him as “a true Nigerian original” while presenting him with a Certificate of Recognition.
