Activist Omoyele Sowore on Monday led a protest to the Force Headquarters and later to the National Assembly, demanding improved welfare and pension conditions for Nigerian police personnel.
Chanting “Pay police a living wage and proper pensions,” the demonstrators held placards that highlighted their calls for better treatment of both serving and retired officers.
One placard, titled #Police Protest, featured inscriptions such as “Decent Salaries Now,” “End Police Slavery,” “Pensions for Police Officers,” and “Dignity for Those in Uniform.”
Although they were not granted access to the Force Headquarters premises, the protesters received police escorts as they marched toward the National Assembly.
