The wife of the Plateau State governor, Helen Mutfwang, on Thursday visited hospitals in Jos, where she presented gifts to babies born on New Year’s Day.
Mrs Mutfwang toured four selected public hospitals alongside the Commissioner for Women Affairs and other dignitaries, explaining that the visit was aimed at welcoming the newborns and supporting their families.
She said the arrival of newborns brings immense joy to society and should be celebrated, while parents deserve encouragement and assistance.
According to her, the birth of a child ranks among life’s greatest blessings, urging communities to embrace new beginnings and recognise the boundless potential every child carries.
She congratulated the new mothers and advised expectant women to remain strong and ensure they follow all necessary steps as they approach delivery.
Several mothers expressed happiness and gratitude over the visit, noting that the cash gifts and baby supplies came at a crucial time.
