Police arrest Edo man for alleged Hilux theft

The Edo State Police Command on Wednesday arrested a 30-year-old man, Friday Bassey, for the alleged theft of a vehicle.

The stolen pickup, a white Toyota Hilux, was recovered by officers of the Command during the operation.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Moses Yamu, the arrest and recovery were the result of an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Aduwawa Police Division.

The statement read: “On 22/04/2025, in a meticulous, technical, intelligence-driven operation, operatives from Aduwawa Divisional Police Station successfully recovered a white Toyota Hilux with registration number EDO 757 EA and arrested one Friday Bassey, aged 30.

“The vehicle had been reported stolen on 14/04/2025 at approximately 05:50 hrs from its parked location on Palace Road, Uteh, off Upper Mission Extension.”

The police confirmed that an investigation is underway and that the suspect has provided useful statements to aid their inquiries.
