The Niger State Police Command has disclosed that on November 4, 2025, at about 5:00 p.m., operatives of the FID STS in the state arrested a 35-year-old woman, Zuwaira Usman, from Pandogari in Rafi Local Government Area, following actionable intelligence.
In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, it was revealed that the suspect was apprehended over allegations that she was involved in conveying ammunition for criminal elements.
According to the statement, during questioning, Zuwaira explained that she met a man identified as Lawali in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna State, in September 2025, where they exchanged contact details. She said Lawali later asked her to travel to Warri, Delta State, to pick up a package on his behalf.
She further claimed that Lawali gave her N22,000 for transportation, after which she embarked on the trip. Upon reaching Abuja, she said Lawali contacted the vehicle driver and directed him on where she would be dropped in Warri.
Zuwaira added that at her destination, she met a motorcyclist who handed her a sack containing a flask with items meant for Lawali. She later identified the rider as Ahmed, who also gave her an extra N30,000 to cover her return journey to Kaduna. She said she then travelled back through Abuja before proceeding to Kaduna State.
According to the statement, Zuwaira took the bag to Lawali in Birnin-Gwari, and it was discovered that a total of 2,500 AK-47 ammunition was contained in the flask delivered to Lawali.
The statement added that Ahmed was later intercepted and arrested in Delta State, while efforts are ongoing to arrest Lawali, as investigations intensify.
