Police arrest robbery suspect, recover arms in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a suspected robber and recovered weapons and ammunition in Ughelli North Local Government Area during the Yuletide period.

According to reports, officers of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, acted on credible intelligence on December 28, 2025, and carried out a swift, coordinated raid on a suspected criminal hideout in the Otorwhodo area of Ughelli North LGA.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

Edafe stated that the operation led to the arrest of a 24-year-old suspect, Moses Tejiri, who is a native and resident of the area, while other members of the gang reportedly escaped by jumping over nearby fences.

The PPRO disclosed that a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of one long-barreled gun, 10 rounds of live cartridges, two locally fabricated Beretta pistols, and 11 rounds of live ammunition.

During preliminary investigation, the suspect made useful confessional statements, admitting involvement in a series of armed robbery incidents around Ekredjebor, Olu Avenue, Winners Road, and other locations within Ughelli metropolis.
