The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has dismissed concerns over a reported terror threat targeting Pan-Atlantic University in Lekki.
The clarification was given on Wednesday during an on-the-spot security assessment at the institution following a viral video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forest area near the campus.
The development triggered public concern, prompting a swift response from security authorities to reassure the public and strengthen surveillance around the university and its surroundings.
During the visit, CP Jimoh met with the university management and stressed the need to reinforce the institution’s security structure to prevent possible threats.
The inspection formed part of broader efforts to evaluate security conditions around the campus and reassure students, staff, and parents about ongoing safety measures.
He also urged the institution to adopt proactive security practices, especially in perimeter control, access regulation, and closer cooperation with security agencies.
Speaking during the visit, Jimoh reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State.
He assured the university community that the police remain ready to respond promptly to any security concerns and ensure a safe environment for learning and other activities.
The Lagos State Security Trust Fund said it has deployed surveillance drones to assist security operations around the university and nearby communities.
The deployment is aimed at improving aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering, and crime prevention in the area.
Jimoh further encouraged continued collaboration between the institution and security agencies, while urging vigilance in reporting suspicious activities.
“The Command remains committed to the protection of lives and property across Lagos State,” he said.
He also advised the management to strengthen internal security measures without undermining existing structures already in place.
The police command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and safety across the state, calling on residents to stay alert and report credible security information promptly.
