The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 people in connection with different alleged crimes across the state, recovering stolen vehicles, firearms, ATM cards and other items during operations carried out between September 16 and 26, 2026.
The command said its operatives also seized eight vehicles accused of causing traffic obstruction during an enforcement exercise at the Sagamu Interchange Bridge.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, made this known in a statement issued on Sunday, saying the operations were part of the command’s efforts to strengthen security across the state.
He said the operations were conducted under the supervision of the state Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.
Babaseyi said, “Among the highlights are the arrest of 11 suspects, recovery of two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms, 25 ATM cards, multiple mobile phones and assorted electrical materials, as well as the impoundment of eight vehicles for obstruction of traffic.”
According to the command, detectives from the Owode Egba Division traced and recovered a commercial TVS motorcycle allegedly stolen from its owner. The motorcycle was found at Mokoloki Village on September 17 after the police received a report the previous day.
“Two suspects, Rasheed Abdul ‘M’ and Saula Meshinoye ‘M’, were arrested in connection with the alleged theft, while an accomplice, Saheed ‘M’, remains at large,” the statement said.
It added, “Investigation is ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect.”
In a separate incident, police operatives from the Olorunda Division stopped three people on Ayetoro Road while they were allegedly transporting electrical equipment suspected to have been stolen.
“Two suspects, Mutiu Gafar ‘M’, aged 19 years, and Fatai Obasanmi ‘M’, aged 37 years, were arrested, while Tosin ‘M’ escaped,” the statement said.
The recovered items included electrical cables, a change-over box and a circuit breaker box allegedly taken from a nearby residence.
The police said investigations into the case were continuing, with efforts being made to arrest the suspect who fled.
Meanwhile, three men were arrested by SWAT operatives from Base 7, Abule-Iroko, after an unregistered tricycle and TVS motorcycle were intercepted around Dalemo in Ota on September 21.
Those arrested were Olamide Ayandele, 30, Tope Samuel, 40, and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30.
The statement said, “Preliminary investigation linked the suspects to alleged vehicle theft around the Ijoko axis.”
It added, “Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other persons who may be connected with the alleged activities.”
Also, the Igbesa Division arrested 45-year-old Ameachine Anthony over an alleged N2.5m fraud case.
Police said 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones were found in his possession.
“Preliminary investigation indicates an alleged scheme involving utility bills and newly acquired SIM cards used through associates to facilitate bank accounts, after which the ATM cards were allegedly collected for fraudulent transactions,” the statement said.
The suspect and recovered items were later handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
On the same day, SWAT operatives arrested Peter Olanrewaju, 34, following intelligence about an alleged cult-related gathering.
The statement said, “Further investigation led to the arrest of Adebayo Sodiq ‘M’, aged 36 years, and the recovery of one pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols.”
It added, “Investigation is continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the possession of the firearms and to identify other persons who may be connected with the case.”
In another case, detectives from the Ijebu-Ode Area Crime Office recovered a Safira vehicle reportedly taken from its owner and arrested Olatunji Olalekan after tracking and intelligence-gathering operations.
“The vehicle has been secured as an exhibit, while investigation continues to establish the circumstances surrounding its disappearance and recovery,” the statement said.
The police also carried out a traffic enforcement operation at the Sagamu Interchange Bridge on September 26.
“Eight vehicles found obstructing the highway were impounded to facilitate free traffic flow and improve safety for road users,” the police said.
It added, “The affected vehicles are to be processed for prosecution on 28 September 2026, while similar enforcement operations will continue as necessary.”
Ojajuni commended the officers involved in the operations and urged residents to remain alert and share useful information with the police.
The statement said, “Residents are encouraged to promptly contact the Ogun State Police Command through the Gateway Shield distress lines whenever police assistance is required or when credible information about a security concern needs to be reported.”
