The Kaduna Police Command has arrested 182 suspects for various offences during operations across the state, as part of renewed efforts to eliminate criminal elements and protect lives and property.
Police officers arrested the suspects in hideouts and known black spots during coordinated raids led by Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in metropolitan areas, including Rigasa, Kawo, Tudun Wada, Sabon Tasha, and surrounding communities. These operations followed a directive from the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad.
In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, said the crackdown aimed to restore public confidence and strengthen internal security. He confirmed that officers recovered weapons and hard drugs during the raids.
On 13 June 2025, officers recovered 30 bags of substances suspected to be marijuana and other dangerous weapons during an operation in the Rigasa area.
Police also intercepted a bag containing 31 rounds of live ammunition for an AK-47 rifle, which suspected criminals had abandoned during a pursuit at Rafin Guza.
Additionally, police operatives acting on a tip-off arrested two suspected car thieves in Kakuri, located in Kaduna North Local Government Area. Officers apprehended 35-year-old Ziya Abdullahi while he attempted to sell a suspected stolen vehicle. His accomplice, Bashir Usman, popularly known as “Yellow”, was later arrested.
According to the police, the suspects admitted to robbing a residence in Gona using knives and cutlasses and stealing a Honda Accord. The stolen car was later recovered in Zaria. Authorities are actively pursuing the other members of the gang.
Some of the arrested individuals have already been charged to court. Others remain under investigation and will face prosecution if found culpable.
Commissioner Rabiu Muhammad reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to fighting crime and urged residents to continue providing prompt and reliable information to support police efforts.
