The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended six suspected kidnappers and gunrunners in various operations across the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, announced this in a statement, revealing that the arrests occurred in Tafa (Kagarko Local Government Area), Saminaka (Lere LGA), and Ikara LGA.
One of the suspects, Isa Ibrahim, was arrested on Thursday, April 17, 2025, while seeking refuge at Gida Abe. During interrogation, the 30-year-old confessed to being part of a kidnapping gang operating in Kwara State. He disclosed that his accomplices had recently been arrested in Kwara, prompting him to relocate to Kaduna to form a new gang.
On the same day, two other suspected kidnappers, Sani Liman and Murtala Magaji, were apprehended in Lamido village, Lere LGA. Both suspects admitted their involvement in several kidnapping operations in the area.
Additionally, on Friday, April 18, 2025, police arrested two suspected gunrunners in Ikara LGA. Identified as Bajo, a resident of Vom Quarters in Jos, Plateau State, and Magaji Abdullahi from Bebeji LGA in Kano State, the suspects were found in possession of two locally-fabricated AK-47 rifles.
Another suspected gunrunner was detained during a routine police patrol along the Kauru-Pambegua Road. The patrol team discovered two locally-fabricated rifles concealed in a sack.
The statement confirmed that all suspects are in police custody and are cooperating with investigations, providing critical information. Efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest other accomplices still at large.
