The Katsina State Police Command announced on Wednesday the rescue of 30 kidnapped victims and the recovery of 92 rustled sheep and goats, along with two cows, in Faskari Local Government Area.
In a statement, Police Spokesman DSP Abubakar Sadiq disclosed that the incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Wednesday when suspected armed bandits attacked Unguwar Sarkin Fulani, Dutsen Dadi, near Tafoki village in Faskari LGA. During the raid, the assailants kidnapped 30 residents and rustled livestock, including two cows and 92 sheep and goats.
Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Faskari quickly deployed an APC patrol team to the scene. The team engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to flee with injuries. All the kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed, and the stolen animals were recovered.
The statement added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.
Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised their professionalism and bravery during the operation. He also urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement by providing timely and accurate information to combat criminal activities effectively.
