Police target street urchins in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has pledged firm action against street urchins who harass motorists across the state.

In a statement on X on Saturday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the police are aware of the issue and have begun steps to address it.

She stated that the Commissioner of Police has instructed all tactical units to step up both foot and vehicular patrols to ensure the streets remain safe for residents.

Adebisi also appealed to the public to continue cooperating with the police by sharing timely and valuable information to support ongoing security efforts.

Her statement followed a post by an X user who recounted an incident in the Ogolonto area of Ikorodu, where area boys harassed a motorist who had run out of fuel, demanding payment before allowing him to refuel.

According to the statement, the Command is taking decisive measures to curb such harassment, reinforcing its commitment to safeguarding all road users in Lagos State.
