A police officer attached to 12 PMF Minna, Niger State, has died after allegedly shooting himself during a routine arms audit.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on December 16, 2025.

The officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdullahi Isah, who had been arrested a day earlier on December 15, 2025, over suspected involvement in illegal ammunition transactions, was escorted to his office as part of ongoing audit and investigative procedures.
While the arms audit was underway, DSP Isah reportedly picked up a pistol inside the office and shot himself in the head.
Following the incident, officers assigned to escort and monitor him during the audit were arrested for negligence in the line of duty, for allegedly failing to prevent the occurrence.
The police said further investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
