President Tinubu hosts class of 1999 governors in Aso Villa

President Bola Tinubu received members of the 1999 set of governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday.

Led by former Delta State governor James Ibori, the former governors were part of the first group elected at the beginning of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic in 1999.

While the specifics of the meeting were not made public at the time of this report, the gathering is widely regarded as part of President Tinubu’s broader consultations with influential political figures.

The development was shared by Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, through a post on his verified X handle.

The 1999 class of governors holds a significant place in Nigeria’s democratic history, having been instrumental in shaping the political direction of the country since the restoration of civilian governance more than two decades ago.

This engagement is the latest in President Tinubu’s continued efforts to solidify alliances and build political momentum ahead of important national decisions.
