Two men were killed on Saturday after a small private aircraft crashed into the roof of a house in northwestern Germany, police said.
The light aircraft came down in a residential area of Ganderkesee, near Oldenburg, crashing head-on into the pitched roof of a house.
Police initially reported that one of the two occupants, aged 65 and 77 and both from Bremen, had died while the other was missing.
However, after what authorities described as “lengthy and complex recovery operations” to remove the wreckage, police confirmed that both men died in the crash.
The wreckage, which had become embedded in the roof of the house, was later removed, allowing evacuated residents to return to their homes.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
