The Police Service Commission (PSC) has confirmed the elevation of Assistant Inspector General of Police, Dankwara Mohammed, to the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police, representing the North-East zone.
Mohammed succeeds DIG Sahabu Abubakar Yahaya, who recently retired from the Nigeria Police Force.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC also approved the promotion of Commissioner of Police, Abibo Deinma Reuben, to Assistant Inspector General of Police.
In addition, eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to the substantive rank of Commissioners.
Those promoted include Naziru Bello Kankarofi, Nendel Joseph Gomwalk, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, Wilson Aniefiok Akpan, Morkwap Dongshal, and Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf. Others are Cletus Nwadiogbu, Ahmed Mohammed Bello, Abdulraheem Nurudeen, Patrick Daaor, and Umar Mohammed Hadejia.
In addition, thirteen Assistant Commissioners were promoted to Deputy Commissioners, while forty-four Chief Superintendents advanced to the rank of Assistant Commissioners.
The statement added that 412 Superintendents were elevated to Chief Superintendents, with several Deputy Superintendents confirmed as substantive Superintendents.
Chairman of the Commission, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to rededicate themselves to national service.
He noted that promotion in the police comes with greater responsibilities and expectations, adding that the Commission would continue to reward diligence and professionalism within the Force.
