The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to 23 newly elected local government chairmen and 319 ward councillors who won in the council elections held on August 30, 2025.
Prior to the presentation, RSIEC Chairman, Michael Odey, emphasized that the certificate represents more than just electoral victory—it signifies a call to serve.
Calling the event a proud milestone for Nigeria’s democratic process, Odey encouraged the elected officials to govern with humility and transparency, adding that a “winner-takes-all” mindset is inappropriate in grassroots politics.
