Two seven-year-old boys have died after being electrocuted by a fallen live wire in Idanre, Ondo State.
The victims, identified as Oloyede Ayo and Clinton Koleola, were reportedly inside a shop along Apefon Road when the live electric wire fell onto the building.
An eyewitness said the incident caused panic in the area, as the boys attempted to escape from the shop after the wire fell.
The witness added that the children came into contact with the live wire while trying to flee, leading to their electrocution and deaths.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, said an investigation had commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Abayomi said preliminary findings showed that the live electric wire suddenly fell on the shop and electrocuted the children as they tried to escape.
The police spokesperson sympathised with the families of the deceased, describing the incident as a painful loss.
He assured that the command would conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
