Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has gifted N40 million to the two best graduating students of the Lagos State University (LASU).
In a post on X by Jubril Gawat, his senior special assistant on new media, the governor announced a cash gift of N20 million each to Ayilara Olaleye and Adebanjo Oluolamide for their academic achievements.
“Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu and Visitor of the Lagos State University (LASU) today announced a cash gift of 20 million Naira (20,000,000) EACH for the Best Graduating Student(s) of the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 Session(s),” Gawat wrote.
He said Olaleye, the best graduating student of the 2024/2025 set, graduated from the department of project management with a CGPA of 4.96, while Oluolamide of the 2025/2026 set graduated from aerospace engineering with a CGPA of 4.97.
The governor made the announcement at the 29th and 30th convocation ceremonies of the university held at the LASU main campus on Wednesday.
Announcing the donation in a video attached to the post, Sanwo-Olu said, “Ayilara Lawal Olaleye and Adebayo Samuel Oluolamide, each of you earn N20 million each.”
The development follows the pre-convocation event of the university on Monday in which Oluolamide was presented with a dummy cheque of N10m under the Sunbeth Excellence Partnership Programme (SEPP).
