Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled coordinated attempts by suspected ISWAP terrorists to infiltrate three communities on the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State.
The Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammad Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, identifying the affected communities as Muna Garage, Shuwari Village and the Ajilari Cross area.
According to the statement, the attacks occurred between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Friday.
“Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have successfully thwarted multiple coordinated infiltration attempts by ISWAP terrorists across Borno State in the early hours of 10 July 2026”.
Goni said the terrorists attempted to infiltrate Muna Garage, Shuwari Village and the Ajilari Cross axis to gain access to Maiduguri.
“With early warning mechanisms emplaced, troops swiftly detected the advancing terrorists and engaged them from multiple axes with accurate firepower, decisively frustrating all attempts to infiltrate” he said.
He added that troops also repelled separate infiltration attempts at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai.
“During the pursuit of the fleeing terrorists at Miringa, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) with no casualties recorded on troops. The situation remains stable” he said.
According to Goni, the terrorists abandoned their mission and fled after encountering stiff resistance from the troops.
“Troops are currently conducting clearance and exploitation operations to pursue the fleeing terrorists, consolidate operational gains, dominate the area, and prevent any further threat to nearby communities” he stressed.
“Operation HADIN KAI remains steadfast in sustaining aggressive offensive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and ensure the protection of lives and property across the North East” he assured.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
