Suspected Bandit Nabbed in Military Uniform With Ammunition

The Police force arrested a notorious suspected IPOB/ESN commander, a suspected bandit disguised as a military officer, rescued a kidnapped farmer, and apprehended suspects linked to rape, illegal possession of firearms and vandalism.

The operations, carried out across several states, also led to the recovery of firearms, live ammunition, military uniforms, stolen electrical equipment and other incriminating items.

In Enugu State, operatives arrested a notorious suspected IPOB/ESN kingpin, Chinonso Umeh, popularly known as “Onye Army”, during a coordinated operation in neighbouring Imo State.

Police recovered one AK-47 rifle, a revolver pistol, assorted ammunition and charms from the suspect.

In another operation in Enugu, patrol teams arrested Asanya Nnamdi and Abugu Tochukwu while allegedly moving around with dangerous weapons.

Police recovered a pump-action gun, 22 live cartridges, a knife, an Allen key and ₦239,200, believed to be proceeds of criminal activities, from the suspects.

The police said the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has launched an investigation into the case.

In Kano State, detectives arrested 28-year-old Muhammad Isa, who allegedly posed as a military officer and is suspected to have links to banditry.

His two suspected accomplices, identified as Atiku and Alhassan, escaped during the operation and are being trailed.

Recovered from the suspect were an AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition, an additional 79 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two military uniforms, three military caps, a suspected fake military identity card, desert boots, ATM cards and a national identity card.
