TCN declares six-hour power outage in Ogun communities

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a planned six-hour power outage affecting communities in Ogun State.

According to the statement, the outage will occur on Thursday, May 14, 2026, as a result of maintenance work on the 40MVA 132/33KV power transformer at the McPherson Transmission Substation.

The maintenance is scheduled to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., during which engineers will conduct preventive routine checks to ensure the transformer continues to operate efficiently and reliably.

During this period, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to customers in McPherson, University, and Ogunmakin areas.

TCN explained that the exercise is aimed at improving service delivery and reducing the likelihood of unexpected faults on the transmission network. The General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the maintenance is necessary for optimal performance of the equipment.

The company also apologised for the inconvenience and urged affected residents and businesses to bear with the temporary disruption.
