Suspected Lakurawa terrorists reportedly attacked and set a police station on fire in Illo town, located in the Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, on Sunday night.
Residents said the attackers stormed the station in an attempt to rescue one of their members who was allegedly being held there.
Unconfirmed reports indicated that the terrorists succeeded in freeing the detainee before setting the police facility ablaze.
No casualties have been reported from either side, as the attack was said to have occurred without resistance.
Efforts to reach the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, were unsuccessful, as he neither answered phone calls nor responded to text messages sent to him at the time of filing this report.
