Those planning to rig 2027 Abia Gov election should write their will — Otti

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has urged politicians plotting to rig the 2027 governorship election to abandon such intentions.

During his monthly media briefing with journalists at the Government House in Umuahia on Thursday, Otti emphasized that both divine will and the people’s choice will ultimately decide the outcome of the election.

He also warned that anyone attempting to interfere with the electoral process should be ready to face the repercussions.

“I have heard that some people around him say, ‘Oh, they must take over this state, they must write results’,” he said.

“But the only advice I have for them is that if they truly want to write results, they should write something else before that time.

“You know what it is? Their will.”

Otti’s remarks were in response to statements reportedly made by Benjamin Kalu, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, who declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take control of Abia State in 2027.

The governor clarified that he has no issue with anyone choosing to run for office, but stressed that any attempt to undermine the democratic process will be firmly resisted.

His comments come as political positioning begins to take shape ahead of the 2027 governorship contest in the state.

Otti, who assumed office in 2023 after winning the election under the Labour Party (LP), is currently serving his first four-year term.
