Four individuals, including three children, have tragically died from suspected food poisoning in the Magama Jibia area of Katsina State.

This was revealed in a statement posted on X.com on Thursday by security and counter-insurgency analyst, Zagazola Makama.

According to the report, the victims—identified as Hussaina Ayuba, Ahmed Ayuba, and Nana Ayuba—were rushed to the Jibia General Hospital after consuming spaghetti. Sadly, they all passed away while receiving treatment.

A fourth individual, 12-year-old Hafsat Ayuba, is currently undergoing medical care and is said to be recovering.

Makama added that a 20-year-old woman, Fatima Abdulkadir, who allegedly prepared the meal, has been arrested in connection with the incident, alongside two other suspects.

He wrote: “The victims—Hussaina Ayuba, Ahmed Ayuba, and Nana Ayuba—died at the Jibia General Hospital after reportedly consuming poisoned food. Hafsat Ayuba, aged 12, remains under observation and is said to be recuperating.”

He further confirmed that police visited the scene and launched an investigation into the matter.

“The deceased have been released to their families for burial in accordance with Islamic rites,” he added.
