Three individuals were on Tuesday brought before the Ejioku Magistrate Court in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State and subsequently remanded at Agodi Correctional Centre for allegedly attacking officials of the Oyo State Fire Service during official duties.
Report state that the fire service personnel were assaulted by suspected hoodlums who were reportedly carting away valuables at the scene of a fire outbreak in Ibadan.
Confirming the incident in a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan, the Chairman of the state Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, said the attack occurred at Atari-Agbon in the Oki area of Olodo, within Lagelu Local Government Area.
He added that one officer sustained injuries during the assault and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
Giving further details on Tuesday, Akinwande disclosed that three suspects had been arraigned in connection with the attack.
He said, “Three people were arraigned at Ejioku Magistrate’s court at the early hours of today (Tuesday) for assault of fire officers at Oki. They were also charged for conspiracy and conduct likely to breach public peace.
“Three were arranged while others are at large. They are currently remanded at Agodi prison. The case is adjourned till March 12, 2026.”
