Three killed, homes set ablaze in Niger bandit attack — Police

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed that suspected bandits killed three people during an attack on Pissa village in Borgu Local Government Area of the state.

According to the police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the attackers invaded the community around 9:00 am on Saturday.

He also disclosed that several houses were set on fire during the incident, while security forces, including the military, responded and engaged the attackers, although full details of the encounter are still unclear.

Abiodun explained that “the report received indicated that suspected bandits invaded Pissa village in Borgu LGA,” adding that “three persons were reportedly killed during the attack, and some houses were set ablaze,” while noting that “the military responded and engaged the terrorists, but further details are still sketchy.”

The incident comes amid recent security concerns in the state, which previously caused panic in Minna after rumours of an attack led some schoolchildren to leave their schools early, although authorities later assured residents that no such school invasion occurred.
