Tinubu, Abia governor meet in Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu received Abia State Governor Alex Otti at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday.

Reports have it that Otti arrived at the President’s office complex wearing a grey, knee-length traditional attire.

The visit comes after Otti’s recent trip to the Sokoto Correctional Centre, where he met with the convicted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

He was accompanied by Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu; Abia State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna, SAN; and his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma.

Officials from the Sokoto State Government assisted in facilitating access to the prison.

After the Sokoto visit, the governor told reporters that addressing issues related to Kanu’s detention is a top priority for his administration.

Through his media aide, Otti emphasized that Abia State is pursuing a coordinated and lawful approach to secure Kanu’s release.

“While Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is free to appeal his conviction, I’m happy to inform you that I have activated and will continue to work on the already agreed strategy until his freedom is secured,” Otti said.

Tuesday’s meeting with Tinubu is understood to be part of the governor’s ongoing political and legal efforts to resolve the long-standing matter.
