President Bola Tinubu has secured a decisive victory across several states in the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2026 presidential primary held on Saturday.
The exercise gained momentum in the afternoon across most states and was supervised by governors appointed by the party to act as collation officers.
In several results already declared, Tinubu defeated Stanley Osifo, his sole opponent, who recorded zero votes in multiple states.
In Rivers State, Tinubu polled 280,468 votes, while Osifo got zero votes across all 23 local government areas, according to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
A similar outcome was recorded in Edo State, where Tinubu secured 131,096 votes, while Osifo managed just one vote across 192 wards.
Edo State Governor and returning officer, Monday Okpebholo, described the process as peaceful and transparent.
In Gombe State, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, who announced the result, said Tinubu secured all votes in the state during the primary conducted across 11 local government areas.
Yahaya stated that Tinubu polled 450,516 votes, while Osifo scored zero, adding that the state has 550,516 registered APC members.
Osifo also recorded zero votes in Osun State, where Tinubu won 100,880 votes in an exercise described as peaceful by Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, who served as collation officer.
“This impressive turnout is not only historic but also a resounding affirmation of the confidence reposed by members of our party in the leadership, vision and Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” Oyetola said.
In Ebonyi State, Tinubu achieved a clean sweep with 207,579 valid votes across 13 local government areas, while Osifo scored zero.
Governor Francis Nwifuru, who announced the result, said voting was conducted across 171 wards and 13 LGAs where the party has 215,490 registered members.
In Kwara State, Tinubu also defeated Osifo, polling 310,990 votes, while his opponent scored none.
Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq said 457,374 members were registered, with 310,990 accredited and voting across the state.
In Bayelsa State, Tinubu secured 277,192 votes against Osifo’s five votes, according to collation officer Doriel Nduwi.
In Zamfara State, Tinubu polled 321,579 votes against Osifo’s 42 votes.
Governor Dauda Lawal, who announced the result, said 322,435 accredited voters participated.
“I therefore declare President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2026 Zamfara State presidential primary,” Lawal said.
Across other states where results were not formally announced, Tinubu also received strong endorsements.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, who monitored the process across 255 wards in 23 LGAs, said turnout reflected strong unity and confidence in the APC leadership.
In Imo State, thousands of party members also voted in support of Tinubu’s candidacy.
Governor Hope Uzodimma said Tinubu’s performance in office had already justified support for a second term.
He added that grassroots participation showed strong mobilisation and confidence in the party.
TINUBU TO RECEIVE CERTIFICATE OF RETURN ON SUNDAY
In a post on X, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s senior special adviser on information and strategy, confirmed that the president will receive his certificate of return and party flag on Sunday.
“President Tinubu to be presented by APC with certificate of return, party’s flag as the 2027 presidential candidate,” he said.
He added that the presentation will hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja after nationwide collation of results, with APC governors, NEC, NWC, National Assembly members, and party leaders expected to attend.
