President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said the visit would provide Tinubu with an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued progress.
During his stay in Makkah, the President will perform the religious rites associated with Umrah, seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people, according to the statement.
Before departing Abuja, Tinubu is expected to inaugurate equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force for its operations at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the spiritual exercise.
The statement was signed by Onanuga on October 28, 2026.
