Tinubu hails Oba Elegushi at 50, praises leadership, legacy of service

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, on his 50th birthday, commending his leadership and contributions to community development.

In a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President congratulated the monarch, the Council of Chiefs, the Lagos State Traditional Council, and the people of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom on the milestone.

Tinubu applauded Oba Elegushi for his consistent efforts to improve the welfare of his people through initiatives in education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship since ascending the throne 16 years ago.

He noted that the monarch has shown vision, wisdom, and courage in blending traditional values with modern governance, particularly by embracing technology and global best practices to drive development in sectors such as agriculture and skills acquisition.

The President also recalled Oba Elegushi’s time in public service under his administration in Lagos State, where he served as Special Assistant from 2003 to 2007 and later as Senior Special Assistant from 2007 to 2010.

According to Tinubu, the monarch demonstrated empathy and compassion even during his time in government—qualities that have continued to define his reign.

“Oba Elegushi has demonstrated the vision, grace, wisdom, and courage in keeping a balance between tradition and modernity,” the President said.

“I am not surprised about your leadership and the gains your reign has produced for the people because, as my Special Assistant and Senior Special Assistant during my tenure as Governor of Lagos State, you always evinced a deep sense of empathy and compassion for people,” he added.

Tinubu also prayed for long life, good health, and continued wisdom for the monarch as he continues to serve his people and the nation.
