President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Thursday evening to mark the Easter period and commission a series of projects, following a condolence visit to Plateau State.
Earlier, the President had been in Jos, where he met with families and victims affected by the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, as well as engaging with former governors, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders to assess the situation.
His aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport around 7:20 p.m. on Thursday evening, where he was welcomed by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other top officials.
During the Plateau visit, Tinubu directed security agencies to go after those behind the killings, stating, “The perpetrators must be brought to justice,” while assuring residents of efforts to restore peace and strengthen security.
While in Lagos, the President is scheduled to inaugurate several infrastructure projects delivered by the state government. Sanwo-Olu noted, “These projects reflect our commitment to development and improved living standards.”
Key projects lined up include the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, aimed at easing traffic congestion, as well as the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President, and a newly completed school facility.
According to Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu will also travel to Ogun State on Saturday to commission the Gateway International Cargo Airport and unveil two commercial aircraft to support import and export operations. “The initiatives are aimed at strengthening trade and logistics nationwide,” Onanuga said.
The President is also expected to inaugurate the new headquarters of the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service and launch a fleet of operational vehicles to boost its efficiency.
After these engagements, Tinubu will return to Lagos to continue his Easter break before heading to Bayelsa on April 10 to commission projects by the state government, after which he will return to Abuja.
