President Bola Tinubu on Friday nominated six individuals to serve as executive directors of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The nominations include three returning executives and three new candidates. If confirmed by the Senate, each nominee will serve a five-year term.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
In a letter dated October 30, 2026, and addressed to the Senate, Tinubu renominated Mr Abiodun Adeniji as Executive Director of Finance and Accounts; Mr Ogbugo Ukoha as Executive Director of Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Dr Mustapha Lamorde as Executive Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
The three new nominees are Mr Mobolaji Musa, nominated as Executive Director for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ms Ogechukwu Modie, nominated as Executive Director for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Mr Said Abutalib, nominated as Executive Director for Corporate Services and Administration.
“The President urged the Senate to consider the nominations expeditiously to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the Authority’s oversight capacity,” the statement read.
Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mrs Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser, subject to completion of the statutory processes under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.
The nominations come months after Tinubu appointed Rabiu Umar as the agency’s chief executive in April.
