President Bola Tinubu has restated that his administration remains committed to ending insecurity nationwide, emphasizing that no citizen should be forced to live in fear.
Tinubu, who called off his planned visit to the G20 Summit in South Africa so he could directly oversee national security operations following recent abductions, described the safety of citizens as a basic right.
In a message shared on his official X account on Sunday, the President underscored that his government would continue to tackle criminal activities in every part of the country.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he said.
The President revealed that all 38 worshippers kidnapped in Eruku, Kwara State, had been freed, and that 51 students earlier seized from a Catholic school in Niger State had also been recovered.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued. I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered,” he stated.
Tinubu further noted that he had been receiving regular reports from the frontline and was monitoring developments nationwide “closely and consistently.”
His comments come as Nigerians continue to demand stronger and quicker government measures to address the surge in kidnappings and armed attacks across the country.
