An elderly woman known for selling akara and bread along Ani Street on the Ikom–Obudu Road has come under scrutiny after residents allegedly discovered human faeces concealed among the bean batter she used for preparing akara.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, June 5, 2026, when some customers became suspicious and confronted the woman over a nylon bag she was allegedly keeping hidden.
Eyewitnesses said the woman initially refused to reveal the contents of the bag, but residents eventually insisted on opening it and allegedly found human waste inside.
The discovery reportedly triggered anger among residents and customers, who demanded an explanation from the akara seller over the alleged practice.
According to reports, the woman admitted to mixing the substance with her akara batter and claimed she had been engaging in the act for an extended period.
She allegedly explained that she was influenced by evil forces and believed the practice would spiritually attract more customers to her business.
