[TRENDING VIDEO] ‘He was born retired,’ netizens react as newborn appears with full-grown moustache

A viral video showing a newborn baby with what appears to be a thick, dark moustache has sparked amusement and debate on social media, with viewers questioning whether the unusual appearance is genuine or digitally altered.

The clip, reportedly originating from Ecuador, shows an infant lying in a hospital crib with a neatly defined moustache resembling that of an adult man.

The video has prompted a wave of humorous reactions, with social media users joking about the baby’s unusually mature appearance.

One user commented, “Bro skipped kindergarten and went straight into a midlife crisis,” while another wrote, “He was born retired with three kids and two mortgages.”

A third person joked, “Bro is barely two hours old and already looks completely fed up with his 9-to-5 corporate job.”

The clip has also inspired a series of edited images and memes. In one widely shared edit, the baby appears in a gold-trimmed military uniform behind a desk labelled “Supreme Leader”, with North Korean flags in the background.

Other edits depict the infant wearing a business suit and holding a cigar, as well as portrayals as Super Mario and an ancient Han dynasty warrior.

Can a newborn have facial hair?

Although babies can be born with body and facial hair, medical experts distinguish between normal newborn hair and the thick moustache seen in the viral video.

During pregnancy, babies develop a covering of fine, soft hair known as lanugo. Most of this hair disappears before birth, although some babies, particularly those born prematurely, may retain patches on their backs, shoulders, foreheads and cheeks.

However, lanugo is typically delicate and lightly coloured. It does not naturally form a thick, dark moustache with the sharply defined shape of adult facial hair.

This has fuelled doubts about the authenticity of the viral clip.

Is the viral moustache digitally altered?

The video appears to have been digitally manipulated, although its authenticity has not been independently established.

Some social media users and video analysts have pointed to what they describe as inconsistencies in the moustache’s movement, particularly around its edges when the baby moves or squints. They have also questioned whether the lighting on the apparent facial hair matches the lighting on the infant’s skin.

These observations have prompted speculation that the original footage may have been edited using artificial intelligence or a facial-mapping filter to create the unusual appearance.

However, without independent verification of the original footage, the precise method used to produce the effect remains unclear.

Social media users react

The video has continued to attract humorous reactions, with some viewers describing the infant as a grandfather in a newborn’s body.

In a separate report by Leadership Newspapers, the baby was dubbed “Senior Man Baby”, as users shared jokes about the infant looking ready to take on adult responsibilities.

Comments on X included @Majo4X, who posted: “Senior man Baby.”

Dammy said, “God na content creator because what is this?

Levi said, “Na Old Man Be That.”

Dammy cool says, “This na reincarnated joor”.

Pretty xoxo said, “Is this real?”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the video, the unusual-looking infant has become a source of amusement online, inspiring memes and comparisons with fictional characters and elderly men.
