In a now trending video on X, market traders in a local timber market have expressed intense frustration over the current economic state of Nigeria. The traders voiced their grievances regarding the skyrocketing cost of living, noting that petrol prices have surged to ₦1,350 per liter, while the price of cement has climbed to over ₦12,000 per bag.
These escalating costs, compounded by the ripple effects of the 2023 subsidy removal and the floating of the naira, have pushed inflation to a staggering 34%. During the exchange, one trader openly questioned the president’s understanding of governance, warning that only those who are misinformed would support a second term.
While official government reports highlight a projected decline in inflation to between 15-23% and steady GDP growth, a vast segment of the population continues to grapple with extreme poverty.
This has fueled deep public skepticism regarding whether current reforms will provide tangible relief before the 2027 elections.

Inibehe Effiong (InibeheEf…): By the time Bola Tinubu is done destroying this country, we will have to conduct a special census to determine the number of people whose integrity are still intact. Tinubu is buying and compromising people in an unprecedented way. People we thought were principled are now blind, deaf and dumb to bad governance in our country. Some are pretending to be neutral, while at the same time making excuses for Tinubu and tacitly opposing any effort to change the status quo.
M.A.M.A.T.E.E.O.O.1 (mama…): Ur f000/1sh Candidate @PeterObi try to buy ADC but failed but now successfully bought NDC. His atrocities is well known to u but u won’t talk. Since it is only tinubu that can revive ur pro bono d€@d law carrier. Ur 😭 is welcome.
JezebelReborn (Jezebel…): A lot of Nigerians now understand that the most critical part of every Election is defending their votes down to their local government area
(General_Somto): Just the same way some pretended that Buhari was performing… and hailed him as the best anthropoid born after Adam. Many are currently prostrating, grovelling, & debelling not only to him, but also to his son & market woman daughter, etc. Damn.
AwakenWith-Chi (Awaken…): Everyone needs to understand that the true power lies with the people and stand as one. Complaining from dusk till dawn won’t change Nigeria’s problems. Bola Tinubu is just another name. There are thousands of Tinubus waiting to continue where he stops. We need to revolutionize the system itself!
Obinna C. Umeh (Obichris…): It is only a foolish person who will vote or still vote for Tinubu @officialABAT.
Kehinde Yusuf (Zainab550…): Under Tinubu, states are getting higher allocations, foreign investors are returning gradually, and major infrastructure projects are ongoing. Criticism is fair, but pretending nothing positive is happening is dishonest.
Kehinde Yusuf (Zainab550…): Calling everyone who supports Tinubu a fool is exactly why political discussions in Nigeria never progress. People support him because they believe reforms, infrastructure projects, and economic restructuring take time to yield results.
Ruqayya Abdulwahab (Ruqa…): For instance, Nigeria’s Corruption Perception Index ranked the country 150 out of 180 in 2022, highlighting ongoing corruption issues. Tinubu’s administration has recorded over 7,000 convictions and recovered #500bn in anti-corruption efforts, but critics question the impact.
Kehinde Yusuf (Zainab550…): Replying to @General_Somto: Funny how people forget that the same subsidy everyone complained about was draining trillions yearly. Tinubu had the courage previous leaders avoided. Reforms are painful, but necessary if Nigeria must move forward.
Dikko (siirdeeq): Nigerians have every right to express frustration over hardship, but leadership should be judged with balance and facts. From ongoing road projects to efforts in attracting investment and stabilizing the economy, Tinubu is taking steps aimed at long-term national growth.
Dikko (siirdeeq): Criticism is part of democracy, but it’s also important to acknowledge the reforms and infrastructure projects currently ongoing across different parts of the country under President Bola Ahmd Tinubu. Economic recovery takes time, especially after years of deep structural challenges.
LOLU💕 (LoluLolu1926469): Tinubu’s government has invested heavily in infrastructure, student loans, CNG transportation, and attracting foreign investors to strengthen the economy.
Hassan Umar Musa (Hassa…): Frustration over economic hardship is understandable, but reducing Nigeria’s complex challenges to insults and emotional attacks does not help the country move forward.
Ali (Ali519520): When you see them talking on interviews one would be deceived to think they are serious minded people. The funny thing be say on Election Day nahim go first collect money and bags of rice to vote APC. Set awon Reno Omokri!
Kehinde Yusuf (Zainab550…): Leadership is not about pleasing people with short-term comfort. Tinubu is taking hard economic decisions many presidents avoided for decades. History may judge these reforms differently from today’s emotions.
SAMUEL SUNNY SUNDAY (Samuel_Sunny): The President inherited many problems, yet he’s still pushing development projects across the country.
don’t die trying (Bigboy_ade): Violence and anger don’t change anything, this person needs to learn and do research on what it takes to have a transformed nation.
Sandrababe (Sandrababe03): Criticism is valid, but Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making tough decisions to fix long-standing issues real change takes time.
Haruna Sagir (ibrahimwarji…): Leadership is not about pleasing everyone instantly; it is about taking bold decisions for future generations. Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited deep economic problems and is confronting them head on instead of postponing them.
