A viral video circulating on X has sparked widespread reactions after social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan or VDM, was conferred the traditional title of Atayese of Yorubaland by Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu I during a vibrant event in Iwo, Osun State.
The honor recognizes his societal contributions and leadership through the Ratel Movement, which pushes for accountability amid his criticisms of corruption.
While fans celebrated the fusion of tradition and activism, some questioned the title’s scope beyond Iwoland. The Oluwo welcomed him warmly, emphasizing Iwo’s openness and preference for monarchy.

Below are some of the responses:
MONSURU-TEMILADE EN: Oluwo wanted to use VeryDarkMan as a weapon against Osun State and Nigeria as a whole. The guy is secretly working for the APC government. I believe he will surely regret it. Because Oluwo is a major problem in Yoruba land and is working against the unity of the South West.
CHUKWURAH Ikenna: I hope this is not another attempt to convince VDM to cease fire on exposing negative moves of this govt that is bent on making sure Nigerians breath no more through their terrible economic policies & corruption amongst key govt officials. Concede & see ur reputation extinguished.
Wayas: Some of these niggas are just jumping around VDM, even forcing themselves on him, and I know it’s all for relevance & connections, as he’s got it now. VDM doesn’t need security or body guards, you niggas should give him space. See my Oga flexing in a selfie too.
AVI TECH: All this things, is to corner him to their side come 2027, nothing more.
Ibrahim Abdullahi Olumide: Our very own Benoit Blanc.
Kingsley: Make nobody kill em self for this Life, if Verydarkman can become celebrity overnight, anyone else can succeed.
Your King And Defender: Omo see VDM whom few years back all he had was phone, ring light, singlet and his bold and persuasive voice. I celebrate you Chief….. there’s really money in this dragging of people and and just hope the Ratelz account still balance?

Blackjoe: This is a clear definition of brain drain and a docile society, so once anyone become outspoken then he automatically becomes the god of the olodo uprising masses ‘ crowd mentality. This is the same thing people to do to religious leaders and politicians, E WORRY MIND
AI Discoveries: From calling out everyone on the internet to receiving royal regalia? The transition is crazy. Honestly, let’s be real, does VDM deserve this kind of recognition, or is the prestige of our traditional titles dropping? Let’s talk.
Olanrewaju Hismylolo: Guyman dey gas for inside the agbada. Anyways, the cloth fine sha and the culture is beautiful but does he really deserve that kind of honor? I need an honest answer pls
SirRoteh___: From activist to chief overnight. At this rate, anyone addressing him now should first ask, “Your Highness or VeryDarkMan?”
Comrade Ayumzi: If VDM doesn’t deserve a chieftaincy for all of his brevities, and strong candour in the face of injustice and inhumanity, shey na you wey no matter come deserve ham… but Oluwo of Iwo, is a king with some streetwisdom.. him honouring someone with a chief title holds no water in many people with high sense of discernment.
