In a trending video that has sparked widespread reactions, activist Livinus Nwosu of the Ratel movement against poor governance visited communities in Bayelsa State on May 31, 2026, where he urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and reject inducements such as cash or rice.
He linked rising banditry and terror—up 43% in 2025 with over 2,000 deaths—to votes sold in the 2023 election, reaching over 200 people and even providing transport for registrations.
While supporters praised the bold grassroots tactic for reaching rural elders, critics questioned its balance amid Nigeria’s polarized security debates and longstanding vote-buying issues.
