[TRENDING VIDEO] Netizens react as APC supporters hand out small rice portions in Osun before election

Social media has been reacting to a viral video showing an APC supporter distributing small portions of rice and stickers in Osun State ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election, sparking fierce online debates about poverty, vote buying, and governance.

Alhaja Falilat Yusuf, known as Ero Arike, distributes rice marked with APC stickers from a vehicle, linking it to unverified sources and warning recipients to back candidate Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, or AMBO.

The small portions—one or two dericas—draw sharp online backlash, with many calling the scenes demeaning amid Nigeria’s economic struggles and likening them to turning citizens into beggars. While some see it as standard grassroots campaigning, critics highlight poverty and question election inducement rules as voting nears.

Here are some of the reactions:

AwakenWith-Chi (Awaken…): Everyone needs to understand that the true power lies with the people and stand as one. Complaining from dusk till dawn won’t change Nigeria’s problems. Bola Tinubu is just another name. There are thousands of Tinubus waiting to continue where he stops. We need to revolutionize the system itself!

Ije Oma (@_naturenurse816): If they like they should share a whole live cow to the people of Osun state, I know most of them will collect it and still vote who they want to vote, unless they want to go back to the era of APC monthly half salary

Lymud Homes (@Lymudd): Not a new thing though… The APC government has let us know that Rice is the only thing they have to offer Nigerian. Pls i hope they also share rice in UK to their slave over there

C.H.R.I.S (@C_H_E_M_P): Funny how someone is giving you food with curse, for you not to do the right thing … well the people of Osun will definitely do justice like oyo state did few years back!!!

Ghazli Adebayo (@AdebayoG…): E go shock this woman nah Saturday we go know aswear a whole businesswoman wat Dey do like this be like e no sabi say governor fit banned her brand sha. Thanks be to almighty Allah my mum never do this and she won’t do this insha Allah

9trogen (@heis9trogen): This has nothing to do with anything. I remember during the election 4 years ago in ife Apc shared 15-20k per vote for people and they still vote for pdp then that makes Adele adeleke the governor.

Calabar 1st son (@Ezegem…): This exactly the devilish party way, make the people poor, so they can stay loyal and beg

blessed (@Godalter): Hope the rice will not finish till 4yrs time

OLAJUMOKEMI (@Olajum…): They will suffer ehn if they allow apc to enter. What’s this nonsense again

Blxck (@linaX_Melon): Collect rice face sapa for another 4yrs

Dhrey (@dhrey_EA): This is disheartening but it is what they have reduced everyone to not just in osun state but in the nation when there’s abject poverty people are tend to enter survival mode instead of committing to the future

Vincent Ilomechine (@Nwaka): When will Nigerians free themselves from this mental slavery? Politicians knows that a united Nigeria is the end to bad governance. So, they stock up the people with tribalism, religion & ethnicity. Iran, Saudi Arabia, China are religious inclined nations, see their development!

Empronetox (@emproner…): This is supposed to be a treasonable offence or is Nigeria now a lunatic country

JLOVE OF LEKKI (@ChefJlove): Our leaders don’t have shame at all.

Olugbenga Ajisafe (@Olugben…): What is this? What card are they collecting from them? Is Nigeria so bad to this extent that people are now exchanging their future for a morsel of bread?

Teegee (@tg_026): What do you expect from a country whose leaders consciously and wholeheartedly weaponize poverty? Unfortunately, this practice cuts across party lines in our country.

kenneth modo (@Hugobust…): Their papa say all is fair in politics… only in Nigeria

Lawrenx (@lifenaone): They’re always dragging to grab the steering (Power) knowing fully well they don’t know jack about driving.

Celexy Val (@CelexyV): My question is why always rice Wetin happen to beans

Cadremo (@officialcadremo): This has been APC strategy since they came into office, frustrate the people then share rice and make them feel like they care hmmm kaiii omo this people don’t care about Democracy we are doomed

Kwasau Ngode (@Kwazyungxt): What APC cannot do, does not exist Some happy Yoruba slaves are happily collecting two tier of rice for their future and that of their next generation to come.

Jaychells the truth seeker (@…): These ones don’t have any pride left. They are being handedwhat they are worth. This their poverty is till death do them part. If they like they vote right. The present Governor is from a rich background, they are the ones to cry a river when the time comes

Mo$hegun® (@segzylad1): Our politicians are the most useless set of human being on earth, same thing Accord people were doing in osun a week ago is the same thing Apc are doing here. I have been saying it, democracy is not meant for Africa. They promote it to enslave the generality of Africans.

Florence Ade Bimpe👑 (@Flob…): Well, Mr. Rufai O., the real candidate that wants to change this trajectory, #OlajideEsan, was sidelined by your media org. Aren’t you & your team tired of flogging the dead horse? #BeTheChange #WeCantContinueLikeThis #IrapadaOsun #VoteAAC #VoteOlajideEsan

sakagucchi (@iamhenrichk): See what a yoruba president has turned his people into. Reduced his people to common beggars lol. Una dey chop ewa now , next tenure na when una go chop the main agbado lol

Dr Frank…Health4All-Nation (@…): When Essau was enjoying his porridge, he thought that somehow he would still retain his birthright. But it doesn’t work that way…the people who cry victims are actually the hostiles just that the trigger they pulled had a killer recoil.

Comicalnaija (@comicalnaija): Weaponisation of poverty! As they collect dirty garri, they hand over their cards to them. What type of card is that? Is it PVC or what? Mr. Poster, explain what you posted. I hate nonsense!

Michael Nosike (@MichaelNo…): The Party member doing this is visible online. She can be tracked, identified and arrested. Oops forgot, this country is not functional. Please dont call me for money

kentolah (@OkodiKenneth): She is even cursing that whoever collected money and food from them and didnt vote for them shall not prosper. Apc has weaponized poverty against Nigerians what a pity.

Justin (@jojopepecarter): WHO HAS BEWITCHED THIS PEOPLE!? I’M SO ANGRY TO MY BONES! THIS IS NOT JUST WICKEDNESS, THIS IS PURE EVIL. WEAPONIZATION OF POVERTY! OH GOD!!!!!

Montono Global Homes & … (@…): My only problem is that whenever you want to stress the fact that the whole system is rigged top to bottom and that inec is not gonna do anything different, Abatti and Ayo will be shouting “INEC has promised that our vote must count” as if they haven’t always been here!

Boss, Prince (@Prince0269…): Feeling for poor innocent stupid and foolish people in Nigeria is a total waste of time no matter how much you spend in educating them about how evil and Devilish APC INEC Judiciary terrorists bandits re but hungry I’ll always bend them over for doggy?

KunleSebutu (@KSebutu): Nigerian politicians know their true and trusted constituents. These are the people that will ensure the hardship of standing three hours in the sun waiting to vote. How many of you online pundits can do that? Until the so called educated decided to take the bull by the horn, politicians will continue to get away with this type of politics.

Mr kelvyn£🇬🇧🇳🇬 (@kelvynmr1): We are still joking in that country called Nigeria. This poor citizens will vote again for peanut. They don’t know the power they are selling.g for 2 modu of rice

St. Paul (@StPaul617): Will this be sufficient for 4 years, why Nigerians lack sense now

Kenneth Obike (@obike_kenneth): This Is The Nigeria That Peter Obi Want To Save? It Is Impossible To Save Nigeria. The Circle Of False Hope Continues & Nothing Will Change. To Make It Work, You’ve To Tear Nigeria Down.

Martins (@IntheirwarX): People don’t want to learn. The educators, never give up. It brings tears to see how ppl continue digging themselves deeper into the rabbit hole, yet blame others. Our biggest problem is ourselves. Education is not about going to school, maturity is not determined by age.

Sparkling77777 (@sunday_eji777): Politicians has really worn this battle . They have succeeded in boxing Nigerians to the corner where they want them to be. I weep for this country. @Rufy on fire , my brother you can only talk you cant kill yourself. It is what it is now. Only God can reverse this trend. So sad

Mr. M.o.d (@MrMod_1): Widening the tax nets and make life hard for them. When it’s election time, share rice or bread for them and see their reactions. Nigeria can never be better again. It’s not a curse or meme. We all can see the truth staring at us
