A video circulating since Sunday morning appears to show armed officers in black uniforms physically confronting young men who were resisting arrest on a street lined with greenery.
Local accounts have alleged that police sometimes accuse youths of cultism to take their phones or extort money. Those claims have prompted expressions of anger and frustration online.
Ikorodu has previously seen police operations targeting suspected cult groups, with videos of past incidents leading to investigations and the withdrawal of officers.
Viewers are now calling for improved police training and accountability amid continuing tensions in the community.
