The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a married woman, Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, and two workers of a guest house in connection with the death of a man whose body was later found under the Katampe Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway, Abuja.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Abuja over the weekend.
According to Sanusi, the deceased had earlier been reported missing by his family before his body was discovered along the Kubwa Expressway, around Katampe, on August 26, 2026.
He said the investigation took a major turn after detectives discovered that the deceased’s mobile phone was missing and began tracing its last known activity and the circumstances surrounding it.
Sanusi said the investigation led officers to Muhammed, a resident of Garki Area 2, Abuja, who was allegedly in a relationship with the deceased.
He said further investigation showed that Muhammed and the deceased had lodged at Good Samaritan Guest House on Second Avenue, Gwarimpa, where they spent some time together.
According to the commissioner, the woman told investigators that she discovered the man was no longer breathing.
Sanusi alleged that instead of reporting the incident to the police, Muhammed took the deceased’s mobile phone and left the hotel.
He further said that several hours later, after the hotel management was unable to reach the occupants of the room, staff gained access and discovered the deceased’s body.
The commissioner said two hotel workers, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, allegedly removed the body from the room and transported it to the Kubwa Expressway around Katampe, where it was dumped under the bridge.
He said the discovery initially generated speculation about a possible kidnapping or “one-chance” robbery.
However, Sanusi said subsequent investigation established that the body belonged to the man whose disappearance had earlier been reported by his family.
The commissioner stressed that the investigation was still ongoing and that the exact cause and circumstances of the man’s death had yet to be established.
He added that anyone found to have played a role in the man’s death or the subsequent concealment and abandonment of his body would face the law.
Sanusi said detectives were continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the death and how the body was moved from the Gwarimpa guest house to the Katampe area.
